Simpson

Our SIMPSON ancestors came from Cookstown Co Tyrone. All I have at the moment is that Edward Simpson who was probably born about 1820 had a daughter Sarah who was born in 1849. She married my great great grandfather Samuel Moffett on 23 March 1865 at Derryloran Parish Church, Cookstown. There is very little record of Simpsons in the Derryloran Church records which in any case do not go any further back than 1797 so further data will be difficult to find.

According to family legend there is some sort connection way back between the Simpsons the Wesley family of Methodism. The name Wesley definetely runs through the generations of both Moffetts & Simpsons. It is true that John Wesley visited Cookstown in the 18th Century, other than this I have found nothing to support the story, but it will be a subject of more investigation in the future.

The descending family line is the Moffetts which can be seen on the MOFFETT page.
