Our Erwins were lead miners on Alston Moor from their arrival there in the 1700s. Previously they would probably have lived in other border areas & originally from Scotland.

George Erwin lived in Allendale in the early 1700s. His son was John Erwin, born in Allendale in 1757.

John Erwin married Catherine Robson who was born in Alston in 1756.They married in Alston on 17 May 1784.

Isabella Hewatson daughter of Thomas Hewatson and Isabella Hornsby was born on 15 Oct 1797 in Nenthead, Cumberland. She died on 09 Jul 1855 in Nenthead, Cumberland.
